App Store & Google Play screenshot sizes, settled.
Every pixel dimension the stores actually accept in 2026 — in one table, with the gotchas that cause first-upload rejections. Bookmark it, or skip the bookkeeping and let ShotCanvas render every size automatically.
Apple App Store sizes
Apple organizes screenshots by display size. Since iOS 18-era App Store Connect, the 6.9" iPhone slot is the only required iPhone size — Apple scales it down for smaller devices unless you upload size-specific sets. iPad has its own required slot if your app runs on iPad.
| Slot | Pixels (portrait) | Status | Devices covered |
|---|---|---|---|
| iPhone 6.9" | 1320 × 2868 | Required | iPhone 16/17 Pro Max class |
| iPhone 6.5" | 1284 × 2778 | Optional | Older Plus / Max phones |
| iPhone 5.5" | 1242 × 2208 | Optional | Home-button era iPhones |
| iPad 13" | 2048 × 2732 | Required for iPad apps | iPad Pro 12.9/13" |
Google Play sizes
Google Play is looser — it accepts a range — but these are the dimensions that look sharp on modern devices and pass every validation:
| Slot | Pixels (portrait) | Status | Notes |
|---|---|---|---|
| Phone | 1080 × 1920 | Required (min 2 shots) | 16:9 — the safe default |
| 7" Tablet | 1200 × 1920 | Optional | Needed for tablet badge |
| 10" Tablet | 1600 × 2560 | Optional | Needed for tablet badge |
Five tips that actually move installs
- The first two screenshots do all the work. Most visitors never swipe — lead with your strongest value claim, not a login screen.
- Write a headline on every shot. A raw UI screenshot says nothing; a six-word benefit headline above the device frame does the selling.
- Keep one visual system across the set. Same palette, same typography, same device angle — sets that look art-directed convert measurably better.
- Design at the largest size, export down. Render at 1320 × 2868 and scale — never upscale a 1080p capture into the 6.9" slot.
- Localize the captions, not just the listing. Stores show screenshots per-locale; translated headlines are an easy conversion edge.
Or skip all of this
ShotCanvas renders your set at the exact dimensions above — every slot, both stores, lossless — and can publish them straight to App Store Connect and Google Play. AI designs the layout and writes the headlines; you ship the listing.
